The Dendrobates auratus "Pena Blanca" is a distinctive morph of the green-and-black poison dart frog known for its unique coloring and relatively shy nature.  Key Characteristics

Coloration: This morph undergoes a color transformation as it matures. Juveniles start with a dull brown and blue color, eventually developing into a striking white and black pattern. The adult coloration often features a metallic bronzing or even a slight purple tinge in some cases.

Size: They are a medium-sized dart frog. Females can reach up to approximately 1.5 inches (3.8 cm), while males are slightly smaller at about 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) at maturity.

Origin: This specific locale originates from Guatemala. 

Behavior: The "Pena Blanca" is typically a shy frog, though it becomes bolder with age and exposure to its environment. They are diurnal (active during the day) and do well in groups, provided the enclosure is large enough and offers plenty of hiding spots.

Habitat and Care Dendrobates auratus "Pena Blanca" are a good choice for beginners in the dart frog hobby due to their hardiness and straightforward care requirements.

Enclosure: A well-designed, bioactive vivarium is ideal, providing plenty of live plants, leaf litter, and climbing areas. A minimum of 10 gallons of tank space per frog is recommended. 

Temperature: They thrive in standard room temperatures, ideally between 70–80°F (21–27°C). Avoid temperatures consistently above 85°F (29°C).

Humidity: High humidity levels (70-100%) are necessary, which can be maintained through regular misting.

Diet: In captivity, they eat small, live, non-toxic insects such as flightless fruit flies, springtails, and 1/8-inch crickets. Food should be dusted regularly with a quality vitamin/calcium supplement. 

Toxicity: Like all dart frogs, captive-bred "Pena Blanca" frogs are not poisonous. Their toxicity in the wild comes from a specific diet of ants and other insects not found in standard captive diets.

Handling: Due to their permeable, sensitive skin and small size, handling should be minimized and done with extreme care (e.g., using clean, powder-free gloves or a small container).
